Parent and Caregiver Advocacy

As a dedicated parent advocate, my primary focus is on connecting families with the necessary resources and ensuring that schools follow the law in various crucial areas that affect children's well-being and educational success. With expertise in homelessness, foster youth, special education, and mental health, my services encompass a comprehensive approach to empower parents in advocating for their children's rights.

Homelessness: I understand the unique challenges faced by families experiencing homelessness, and I provide personalized support to connect parents with essential resources. I assist in navigating the complex network of emergency shelters, transitional housing programs, and social services. Additionally, I ensure that schools comply with the laws that protect the educational rights of homeless children, such as the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act.

Foster Youth: For parents of foster youth, I offer specialized services to ensure their children receive the support they deserve. I assist parents in understanding the foster care system and work with schools to ensure compliance with laws such as the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), which guarantees educational stability and success for foster youth. By advocating for appropriate educational services and collaborating with schools, I help foster youth thrive academically and emotionally.

Special Education: Navigating the realm of special education can be complex, but I provide comprehensive support to ensure parents understand their rights and schools fulfill their obligations. I assist in developing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), navigating evaluations, and securing necessary accommodations. By closely monitoring compliance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), I advocate for the provision of quality special education services tailored to meet each child's unique needs.

Mental Health: Recognizing the importance of addressing mental health concerns, I offer support in ensuring schools comply with laws related to mental health services. I assist parents in understanding their rights under laws like the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. By advocating for comprehensive mental health evaluations, appropriate services, and the implementation of strategies to support mental well-being, I ensure that children's mental health needs are met within the educational setting.

Through personalized consultations, workshops, and resources, I empower parents with knowledge and strategies to effectively advocate for their children. I believe in the power of collaboration between parents, schools, and community organizations to create an inclusive and supportive environment where children can thrive. By partnering with me as your parent advocate, you can be confident that your child's rights are protected, and schools are held accountable to follow the laws that safeguard their well-being and educational success.
